Android file format for stock Alert Sounds

Thursday 16th of February 2012 / droidforums.net
I was wondering what file format the Alert/Notification sounds that come on Android phones, are in. Everytime I tried to google it I would just get a list of all the sound/music formats supported by android, but never just the format that the stock sounds are in. So can someone help me out with this. or is it different for different brand of phones. I didn't think it was, i figured all android phones used the same file formats, but you never know, so I figured I would ask. But either way, if someone could tell me what file format the notification/alert sounds are in, it would be much appreciatedoh and just in case it is different for some phone makers, I am currently rocking the LG Revolution (which I am hella digging. Gonna be trading it in tho as soon as the Quad-Core Tegra3 Equipped phones come out, can't wait !)

Alert Sounds for Text Messages

Tuesday 17th of January 2012 / android.net
Is there any way to use a sound that I recorded as my alert for text messages? I don't particularly like any of the ones provided and I recorded a sound I like onto the phone under voice recordings and would like to use that instead.

Addding New Notification Alert Sounds

Friday 15th of July 2011 / droidforums.net
Hi,I have figured out how to add new ringtones to my Droid X2 but am stumped how to ad new alert sounds. For instance if I want to select a different Gmail Notification "Ringtone" it is only giving me the option to select one of the ringtones that came with the phone. None of the Ringtones I added to my SD card that are avaiable for my contact list show up under the G-mail settings. Is there any fix for that?

No ring or alert sounds

Friday 23rd of July 2010 / androidforums.com
Hi, my wife has an Orange branded HTC Desire and intermittently the phone stops making a noise when someone calls or an email/text arrives. It operates as if its in silent mode even though all volumes are on full. The only way I've found to get it working again is to re-boot the phone, this solves the problem for a few hours but eventually it reverts back to silent. I've trawled the forums and unusually can't find anyone else with the same issue and I wondered if anyone could help. Forgot to say when it's not working correctly I've tried adjusting the volumes but that doesn't work but also if I try and adjust the ring tone the phone doesn't play a sample as it should. This also goes for the alert tone, it's completely silent. Any help would be appreciated.

Disabling CMAS alert sounds

Friday 22nd of February 2013 / androidforums.com
Hello all. I am a new user of the Huawei Ascend Y (I think it's what I have..H866C) from straight talk. Anyway, I seriously need to figure out how to disable the alarming sound that comes from my phone when one of those CMAS alerts comes through. Even the test messages have that alarming, loud sound like the test of the emergency broadcast system. I always have my phone on silent/vibrate and it still makes the sound which is very disruptive at my workplace. Help

S4: Text Alert Sounds

Wednesday 01st of May 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
I was just in an AT&T store earlier today playing with an S4, and I was delighted to see that assigning different text alert sounds to individual contacts is now a standard feature! Does anyone know if this is part of Android 4.2.2, or just an upgrade to Samsung TouchWiz? Thanks!
