[AD-HOC TETHERING] Tether your iPhone to the Coby Kyros MID x024!!!
Saturday 04th of February 2012
Android does not natively support the ability to connect to an Ad-Hoc network; so what's the big deal? Aren't most of our Wi-Fi networks nowadays all about 802.11x for which there is widespread compatibility? The truth is, that the Ad-Hoc infrastructure is the only means by which a mobile 3G device is capable of broadcasting its signal. Seeing as the Kyros is a Wi-Fi only device, one could see the benefit behind tethering--you're out of a Wi-Fi zone and you need to pull up a map or webpage to find your way home (for example). Wouldn't it be convenient to just pull out your 3G enabled iPhone and share your 3G connection with the tablet for a more comfortable browsing and media consumption experience? Unfortunately though, this is a lot easier said than done seeing as the iPhone's tethering applications only broadcast 3G signals.Fortunately, the generous developers of this forum have made this process possible; all it needed was some experimentation to figure out how to pull off the iPhone-Android tether. What you need:A Coby Kyros MID x024 device (tested on the 7024 at the time of writi
How can i connect my android tablet to the net using a wireless network on my laptop?
Friday 06th of January 2012
i got a dopo tablet the other day and i can not get it to connect to the internet. it has a android 2.3 os. i have tried setting up ad hoc networks like 10 times. some with wpa or wep some with no key needed. i downloaded the connectify software and nothing works. when it does see the network it tries to connect than it just disconnects. and most of the time it says it is out of range. i put in the key and ssid tons of times on both devices. restarted them turned wifi on and off. im almost certain it is just a simple setting i am missing. like i allowed internet sharing on the mobile network and it should be set on the wireless one. though i tried both. or it could be a service i stopped from starting up in the system config. i have a usb modem for the internet. could that effect something?

htc one x - Will Wi-Fi Direct allow me to connect to an ad-hoc network?
Wednesday 16th of January 2013
I have been trying to connect my HTC One X to an ad-hoc wireless network, so I could browse Internet on my phone. I found Android doesn't support ad-hoc networking and I noticed on some pages that Wi-Fi Direct is better than ad-hoc anyway. How can I connect my computer with Windows XP to my mobile using Wi-Fi Direct? When I open the Wi-Fi direct settings, it shows nothing although I search for network. What is the process? Is there any other way I can connect to an ad-hoc network?
