Play Books -- how to remove default titles?

Thursday 12th of April 2012 / androidforums.com
Hey all,I'm enjoying my A100 so far, but have an annoying issue with Play Books. Not sure if it is built in for all Acer tablets or just the one I got from GameStop (it was bundled with some nice games...), but there are three "classic" titles in Play Books by default. I want them gone.No matter how much I remove them from the tablet (both "remove from device" and "remove from library"), they keep re-appearing. If I "Delete Permanently" the titles in Play Books on the Google web site (via my desktop computer), they disappear from there, but still keep re-appearing on the tablet (and then will re-appear in Google Play on my computer screen right before my eyes).I can't uninstall the Play Books app because it is a system app. And no, I'm not going to root over this, not with ICS coming out in the next couple of weeks (supposedly). Can anyone tell me how to get rid of these stupid books? In case there is any question about the titles I am talking about (or if others have a similar scenario), the books are "Treasure Island", "Wuthering

How to install and use the "Old Market" (pre movies, books, music, etc)

Monday 02nd of July 2012 / droidforums.net
This is a step by step method to use the "Old Market" (v2.3.6) that was the last (known) version before Google moved to the current platform. If you have a Razr, Razr Maxx or Bionic running ICS and dont like Google Play (Market) and were using the old market before and dont know how to block in ICS or just want the old market within ICS for whatever reason. Follow this guide.Step 1 go on the Play Store and download Old Market or search around the net for Market 2.3.6 (its out there). Step 2 download from Play Store (if you dont already have it) Root Explorer.Step 3 once you have both installed. (Make sure you are rooted too). Run Root Explorer. Go to the following location, SYSTEM/APP look up the Phonesky.apk app and change it to say Phonesky.apk.bak. DONT DELETE IT! If you want to revert back you will need this.Step 4 now go BACK to the root or / folder. Go to the SYSTEM/DATA/APP folder. Now search for "vending". (Remove quotes of course).Step 5 once you find the ......Vending-1.apk file either .bak OR delete it. Its a duplicate of the phonesky.apk app and can be

HOW TO: Convert PDFs to Aldiko Books

Sunday 13th of June 2010 / droidforums.net
Hey guys, this is my first how to, but im sure it will come in handy for many of you. I found this application for PC, Mac and Linux called Calibre. This application will converyt all of your .PDF into .ePUB files. So here is the process i used to convert Zombie Survival guide into an Aldiko book.1. Install Calibre. Tell it where you want the converted files output to.2. Select the Google phone setting in Calibre for conversion.3. Up in the top left corner of Calibre, there is a green button that you use to add your PDFs. You can either go one at a time and convert them, or you can add all of your PDFs and convert them in a batch.4. Mount your phone and navigate to your eBooks section on the SD card. Add a new folder called import.5. Now in another explorer window, navigate to your Ebook output folder that you designated at the install of calibre.6. copy your book over from your computer to your phone. If you want to conserve space, you can also open up the books file and delete the original PDF. Make sure you leave the .Epub in there though7. Lastly, unmount your phone, open up aldi

How to delete Google Books

Monday 06th of June 2011 / droidforums.net
I've uninstalled the update from market, but the stupid thing still appears in my apps and says it needs updating....isn't there someway to completely remove this thing from my droid? It must have come along with the gingerbread update and I don't want it or use it. I'm rooted so if I just knew where it was I'm thinking I can use root explorer to get rid of it.Anyone know where this app sits?

Play Books -- cannot remove default books from library

Google Books locked (no uninstall) in Gingerbread?

Thursday 24th of March 2011 / forums.androidcentral.com
Google Books - I don't use it, but back in 2.2 downloaded it just to play around. Forgot about it. Along came 2.3, did update and found myself loving my phone more than ever. However, with only 128mb of room for apps, my fun was short lived. Bye-bye tower defense, bye-bye weather apps, bye-bye Google Books...BYE-BYE GOOGLE BOOKS!... URRRG! What? No uninstall option? WTF! How do I get rid of this? It isn't taking up space since you can delete the updates and reduce it to 0.00 bytes, but now it constantly reminds me to "update" it, which would bring it back to the full version. It is like a zombie app, it just won't die!

How to remove books from google play?

Wednesday 09th of July 2014 / forums.androidcentral.com
How can I remove books from google play in a way that will stop the books I have previously purchased from influencing the "recommended for you" section? I have purchased some less that PG books, and may have children who can access my account soon, so I'd like them not to see any objectionable things, but "delete forever" has not stopped racy books from appearing in my "recommended for you", and when I click on books that I have previously downloaded, but have since deleted, they are not registering as deleted. Is there a way to fix this?
