rom flashing - How to pack a firmware update image

Wednesday 03rd of April 2013 / android.stackexchange.com
I've downloaded a several firmware versions to install on android tv stick to take it out of its boot loop.I need to firmware packed as an update.img file and all the firmwares I've downloaded are in the form of a zip file with the following structure inside:update.zip |-META-INF | |-com | |-CERT.RSA | |-CERT.SF | |-MANIFEST.MF |-recovery | |-etc | |-recovery-from-boot.p |-system | |-app | |-bin | |-etc | |-fonts | |-framework | |-lib | |-media | |-tts | |-usr | |-vendor | |-xbin | |-build.prop |-boot.imgNote: I'm only showing two levels for clarity, it's not that those folders are empty.Does anyone recognizes that directory structure? Can I create an update.img pack out of it? If so, how?IMPORTANT: I need the new firmware in that format because Rockchip Batch Tool is the only way I have to install it my android tv stick.

(How To) Setup New Market App (Fix Lack of Apps Showing in Portrait Mode)

Monday 14th of February 2011 / androidtablets.net
The market on the NOOKcolor, even if it looks like the new market, will only show applications that conform to the Android API 7 API level (2.1 and below). Android 2.2 apps all conform to the Android API 8, so they won't show up on your nook unless you drop FroYo onto it.Three things have been known to help with listing more apps:1. Turn your nook sideway to landscape and more apps should show up.or 2. Use Nook Color Tools:Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > (Filter by all) Market > Clear Cache (NOT DATA!)Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Google Services Framework > Clear Data > Force CloseRebootor 3. Install the new market apk: Use Root Explorer, changed the System/App folder to R/W and then you will be able to upgrade the current Market to the newer market apk. With the new marketplace all apps are showing without needing to turn the screen to landscape.-Open Root Explorer-Make your way to System/App-Change R/O to R/W-Sideload new market app (apk) to your sd card-Open any file explorer-Install new market app (apk)Vending (new).ap

Sideload Wonder Machine: How to use it

Friday 18th of February 2011 / androidforums.com
Alright, so if you guys are interested in sideloading apps, you know by now that AT&T has locked that option out, so we are forced to use the Sideload Wonder Machine. And I got it to work. My first app to install: z4Root. I believe that it worked, but I'll edit this post with results.Anyways, here is how to get Sideload Wonder Machine to work:First, go HERE and install HTC Sync. You don't need this for anything but the ADB drivers, so don't use it after you get it fully installed. (Sidenote - during the installation of HTC Sync, it prompted me to stop my anti-virus software to continue, but I didn't and nothing bad happened so just leave it on.)ALSO, make sure that you have the latest version of MS .NET framework!Second, get Sideload Wonder Machine. You can find it at Android Central | Android Forums, News, and Help But you will need to be a member there to get the file for download. Follow the instructions in the post about that as well.Third, plug your phone in and set it to debugging mode. You can do this by this: menu>Settings>Applications>DevelopmentThen, change the
