Android 4.0.2 for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus rolling out again

Thursday 12th of January 2012 / androidcentral.com
Mmmm. Can you taste that (almost) fresh new version of Ice Cream Sandwich? It appears as though Android 4.0.2 is rolling out to the GSM versions of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus again via an OTA update, so if you were one of the unlucky ones who have yet to receive it now may be your time. Weighing in at only 8.8MB it is pretty obvious that this is just a few bug fixes, but hey who doesn't enjoy a nice update for their device. If you haven't been notified of the update be sure to head into your settings and check manually for the update. Be sure to hop in the forums and let us know how it works out for you, and what you changes you notice.A big thanks from Phil goes out to Seth Weintraub!

Android 4.0 update for the Samsung Galaxy S2 is (finally!) available in India

Wednesday 30th of May 2012 / androidheadlines.com
There has been a lot of good news for Android and Samsung fans in India┬áin the last week. First, the Galaxy Note got the upgrade to Android 4.0, available OTA or via Kies. There was later an announcement that all new Samsung Galaxy S2s that would be sold in India would ship with ICS out of the box. Leaving the best for last, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is already up for pre-order and will likely be available in the next two weeks. But, all the good news did nothing to stem the increasing disappointment and anger felt by current Samsung Galaxy S2 owners, who have been eagerly awaiting the update to Google’s “latest and greatest” iteration of the Android OS. If you have been rocking that shiny new Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 or Galaxy Note 10.1, you are still stuck on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Remember these are not final versions of the update, so they will likely come with a few bugs. But of course, it can’t be fun without a little risk. Android 4.3 update for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play edition breaks SD card writing, but there is a workaround

Saturday 10th of August 2013 / feedproxy.google.com
Sometimes the little things can cause a big headacheThe Android 4.3 update for your shiny new Galaxy S4 Google Play edition phone has a minor issue that is frustrating more than a few users. Most apps can no longer write anything to the SD card, and insteadjust give you an error when you try doing it.It's one of those little things that can cause a lot of headache. The technical reasons are a group ID issue, and applications aren't given permission to access the external storage for writing because they aren't in the right group. It's a Unix thing, and if you don't understand it all you're not alone— just know that it's an easy fix in a number of different ways, and hopefully it gets fixed soon. If you do understand, we'll cover it a little more later in this post. While we're waiting for a permanent fix, the good news is that you can copy files to the external SD card by hand, as long as you use ES File Explorer to do so. Either through magic, or crafty developing, ES File Explorer is a member of the correct group to both read and write to t
