Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 To Get Android 4.4 KitKat in Late January

Thursday 19th of December 2013 / droidforums.net
The French carrier SFR just spilled the beans on a Samsung update schedule for the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3. According to their leaked info, both of these devices will be receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat update toward the end of January 2014 for the SGS4 and Early February for the GNote3. They didn't give exact rollout dates, but they are obviously a credible source. We can't imagine Samsung is too happy about SFR revealing this info, but it's probably not a big deal over-all. Obviously keep in mind that this is referring to European versions of these products. It's entirely possible/probable that the U.S. carrier versions of these devices will come a bit later than that. This seems a bit slow to us. Compared to other carriers, Samsung is a bit behind on getting the KitKat update rolled out. What are your thoughts?Source: SFR

European Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Rolling Out Now

Monday 13th of January 2014 / droidforums.net
The European version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will soon be getting a dose of chocolatey KitKat yumminess. Android 4.4 just started rolling out to the the SM-N9005, which is the LTE-capable model of the GNote3. It's already hitting phones in Poland at the time of this post. This is currently an unlocked sim-free version of the device, so any carrier based versions will likely take longer. There's no word on when the update will start rolling out to U.S. versions of the device, but since this one is LTE, it shouldn't take too long (depending on your carrier). This new build is N9005XXUENA6, Android 4.4.2. Sound off in this thread when you start to get yours.Source: UnWiredView

Friday 24th of January 2014 / feedproxy.google.com
Following a limited rollout in Russia and Poland, it seems more countries in Europe and Asia are getting the Android 4.4KitKat update for the Galaxy Note 3 today. Reports from SamMobile and the XDA forums point to a rollout for users in the Netherlands, Singapore, Switzerland, Hungary, India and Korea. The reports refer to both the LTE-capable SM-N9005 and the 3G-only SM-N900getting the OTA today. The update brings Samsung's big-screened handset up to Android 4.4.2, build KOT49H, with new-style notification icons and other minor UI tweaks, in addition to standard KitKat features like immersive mode, transparent notification bars and fullscreen album art. (Updatersshould also be aware that some have reported issues getting third-party S View cases to work after the KitKat upgrade, though Samsung has denied any link between the two.)International Note 3 owners— check for software updates, and hit the comments and let us know if you've got an OTA waiting.Source: SamMobile, XDA

Galaxy Note 3 on US Cellular will get KitKat tomorrow

Tuesday 18th of February 2014 / feedproxy.google.com
The Samsung Galaxy S 4 isn’t the only US Cellular device that’s going to be getting Android 4.4. According to documents, the Galaxy Note 3 will also be getting its KitKat update February 19. It’s going to be a staged roll out that will be 100% complete in ten days. Also like the S4,  preloaded apps Daily Perks and MobiTiles are getting pulled from of the operating system, but will be available for download from Google Play.To be sure you get the update, make sure you’re on the latest stock firmware, have a Google account, and you’re able to connect to Samsung’s FOTA update server.Source: Android Central» See more articles by Aditya Thawardas//

T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Getting Android 4.4.2 KitKat OTA Now

Wednesday 05th of March 2014 / droidforums.net
The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for T-Mobile's version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has starting rolling out OTA now. Don't forget that these rollouts go out in batches, so you may not see it on your device for a few days. If you want to try and grab it manually, you can tap Settings > General > About device > Software update (of course that doesn't always work either).Regardless, when you do eventually get the update you will be on software version N900TUVUCNB4. There's nothing really unusual in this update beyond what you get in 4.4.2 KitKat. Sound off if you are one of the lucky folks who have received this update.Source: TMoNews

T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Now Getting The KitKat Update

Wednesday 05th of March 2014 / feedproxy.google.com
The Android 4.4.2 update is hitting yet another version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, this time on T-Mobile. The update clocks in at 495.74MB and will be the first significant update to T-Mobile's Note 3 since release late last year. T-Mobile has yet to update its official support docs with a changelog or OTA status, but we've already gotten a few tips that the OTA is rolling out. Check the update menu to see if you can manually pull it down, otherwise it shouldn't be too long. In addition to the UI tweaks, the KitKat update should enable Tap and Pay in Google Wallet.[Thanks, +Jonathan Capellan and +Greg Hockenjos] Tags:Android 4.4.2 device updates Galaxy note 3 Samsung

Verizon's Samsung Galaxy Note 3 gets wired KitKat update

/ feedproxy.google.com
It's not yet available over-the-air, but an update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat can be had for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 on Verizon if you're willing to plug in. The update comes courtesy of either Samsung's sync and update software Kies or the Verizon Software Assistant. As noticed by Android Central Forum member spunkmeijer, the update took about half an hour to install.Kies is available for both Mac and PC, as is the Verizon Software Assistant, and both are triggered merely by plugging your phone into the computer while the app is running. From there you'll be walked right through everything you need to do.Verizon's Galaxy Note 3 is running behind on the KitKat update train, with the other major US and international carriers getting the update as of March. We don't have work yet for when the update will be available over-the-air for those that don't want to install yet another app on their computers, but hopefully it won't be too much longer.Via: Android Central Forums
