[Rumor] The Android 4.3 Update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is Already in Testing

Thursday 26th of September 2013 / droidforums.net
According to a Tweet from yesterday, it looks like the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 may be getting Android 4.3 in the next couple of months. SamMobile's Tweet indicated that Android 4.3 is already in testing for the GNote2, so the update could be out as early as November or December. This is great news for folks who were looking to stick with their GNote2 for a while. Of course, for folks looking to make the switch to the GNote3 when it launches soon, it will already have Android 4.3 on-board. It's interesting that a rash of phones will be soon getting the Android 4.3 update, when it's possible the Android 4.4 KitKat update will soon be launched by Google. Of course, testing new software on older hardware always takes time, so this phenomenon is nothing new for Android.Source: Twitter - SamMobile

Update anxiety, and the facts about the 4.3 & 4.4 updates

Thursday 31st of October 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Some call 'em updates, some call 'em upgrades; either way, what I'm talking about, here, is getting the Samsung Galaxy Note II (or "Note 2," if you prefer) from its current (as of this writing) Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, up to Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (version Android 4.2 Jelly Bean for the Note II was skipped, altogether); and then, later, up to Android 4.4 KitKat. (Colors per version information found .) At this writing, these are the three threads, around here -- at least the most current/recent ones -- in which the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update is being argued:1) Galaxy Note II - the forgotten flagship...2) AT&T Galaxy Note 2 - 4.3 update will be November 203) 4.3 for the Note 2And "argue" is the right word. Everyone thinks they know when and why and how the updates will be issued, and to whom; and it's amazing how sure of themselves, and how resistant to other ideas, so many people become... ...and, most importantly, how angry they get at -- and how anxious they get about -- delays. In one of those threads, user Synycalwon made a really excellent posting abo

[Rumor] Samsung KitKat Launch Schedule Leaked; SGS4 and GNote3 in January

Friday 22nd of November 2013 / droidforums.net
Since there is no additional corroboration for this leak we are labeling it a rumor for now. Regardless, it looks like a feasible time-frame so it could be legit. The above pic is supposedly the leaked schedule from Samsung for their rollout for Android 4.4 KitKat on several of their devices. The most notable parts of this list show the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3 getting the KitKat update in January of 2014. If, so that would practically be a record time to get the newest version of Android onto new flagship devices after its initial launch. The schedule above also denotes the Galaxy S3 and the GNote2 getting the update sometime between March and April of 2014. We will keep you updated with more details.Source: TalkAndroid

Samsung Galaxy S 4, Note 3 getting KitKat at the end of January, according to French carrier

Wednesday 18th of December 2013 / feedproxy.google.com
According to French carrier SFR, the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and Note 3 will be receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat update at the end of next month. This matches with a schedule that was leaked a few weeks ago. Considering the GS4 received Android 4.3 last month, it seems that Samsung is working at a decent pace to make sure its smartphone owners get the latest version of Android. So keep an eye out next month for the update.Source: SFR (French)Via: SamMobile» See more articles by Justin Herrick//

Samsung Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3 To Get Android 4.4 KitKat in Late January

Thursday 19th of December 2013 / droidforums.net
The French carrier SFR just spilled the beans on a Samsung update schedule for the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3. According to their leaked info, both of these devices will be receiving the Android 4.4 KitKat update toward the end of January 2014 for the SGS4 and Early February for the GNote3. They didn't give exact rollout dates, but they are obviously a credible source. We can't imagine Samsung is too happy about SFR revealing this info, but it's probably not a big deal over-all. Obviously keep in mind that this is referring to European versions of these products. It's entirely possible/probable that the U.S. carrier versions of these devices will come a bit later than that. This seems a bit slow to us. Compared to other carriers, Samsung is a bit behind on getting the KitKat update rolled out. What are your thoughts?Source: SFR

Android 4.4.2 KitKat rolling out officially to the Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005)

Monday 13th of January 2014 / droidforums.net
After the test Android 4.4 KitKat firmware for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 popped up over the weekend, now the official update has started rolling out, with Polish users reporting first they are getting the candy goods on their SM-N9005 models, which feature a Snapdragon 800 processor. The KitKat firmware revision N9005XXUENA6 is dated January 9, 2014, and it sports baseband version N9005XXUENA2 with CSC version N9005OXXENA5. Installation can be done via Samsung's Kies desktop software, or you can keep hitting the Software Updates button in your Settings>About phone menu.Given that Poland has a huge Samsung R&D center present, this might be a test batch rolling out for localized consumption and ironing out any kinks, but regardless, the KitKat update for both the Note 3, and the Galaxy S4, shouldn't take much longer to appear on your 2013 Samsung flagships.Android 4.4.2 KitKat rolling out officially to the Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N9005)

European Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Rolling Out Now

Monday 13th of January 2014 / droidforums.net
The European version of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will soon be getting a dose of chocolatey KitKat yumminess. Android 4.4 just started rolling out to the the SM-N9005, which is the LTE-capable model of the GNote3. It's already hitting phones in Poland at the time of this post. This is currently an unlocked sim-free version of the device, so any carrier based versions will likely take longer. There's no word on when the update will start rolling out to U.S. versions of the device, but since this one is LTE, it shouldn't take too long (depending on your carrier). This new build is N9005XXUENA6, Android 4.4.2. Sound off in this thread when you start to get yours.Source: UnWiredView
