Google "My Contacts" shortcut on home screen?

Wednesday 27th of January 2010 / droidforums.net
Ok, so when I set up my Droid, I was syncing "All Contacts" and a group called "Phonebook" of my frequently called contacts.I've noticed when you create a new contact on the droid, It gets grouped into the "my contacts" group in Gmail Contacts. However, when you longpress the homescreen and select folder, it only gives you an option for "starred in android", nothing for "my contacts".Am I missing something or is this option not available?

How do you save a contact onto the home screen?

Tuesday 06th of December 2011 / android.stackexchange.com
I can't figure out how to save a contact shortcut on the home screen for easy dialing (Ice Cream Sandwich on Galaxy Nexus).Long-pressing on the home screen prompts me to choose a wallpaper. Long-pressing on a contact in the People app has no effect. I can't find any menu option to do it.How do you do it?

Shortcut to webpage on home screen

Saturday 23rd of January 2010 / droidforums.net
This is probably a really rudimentary question (I did try searching but came up empty handed).I use Oprius (an online contact management system) for my calendar - how can I have a shortcut to that website on my home page so I don't have to open up the browser, go to short cuts and then get there? Thanks!Never mind - dug a little further and was finally able to figure it out. Apologies for the post!

Tuesday 01st of March 2011 / android.stackexchange.com
I'm looking for a widget, shortcut, etc. that will let me tap it once and the next screen I see if the compose email screen for someone. For example, if I have a contact Joe whose email is joe@example.com, I could click one button (or contact picture, or label, etc.) on my home screen and an email to joe@example.com would be started. If I use the contact widget, I click on Joe and then get a menu for email or call, etc. Is there a one-click solution to start composing an email to a contact from the home screen?

Contact Images/Icons - wtf

Friday 10th of September 2010 / androidforums.com
I just got my droid 2. All set up and rolling. However, I am adding shortcuts to my contacts on my desktop (ala the d1) by pressing and holding the screen, then Shortcuts > Contact. I scroll to the contact and select it. and it adds them to the home screen. Unfortunately, it adds them with the WRONG icon. It IS an existing icon for a user just not the user I am selecting. Also:- before I select the user, the icon/image is correct.- If I search contacts, the icon/image is correct.- I log into gmail and look at my contacts and the image/icon is correct. - I tried to add a NEW icon/image by taking a new pic with the camera. The user updates, but it still displays the wrong pic when I add the shortcut. It is only when I add it to the home screen as a shortcut when it gets jacked. Anyone else seeing this or have a solution? Also, I use google to sync all my contacts. I use gmail to set the icons. There is only a certain size which can be used. but on the D2, the same contact icons/images seem to be blown out. Like I COULD use a bigger size image, bug I dont think that Google allows it? A

Shortcut for Phone Contacts on home screen

Tuesday 17th of August 2010 / droidforums.net
I've created some shortcuts on one of my home screens for my most often used numbers/contact and have noticed that they do the following:-image associated with the contact does not appear for the icon (gray generic shadow)-image from another contact appears for the icon (image that belongs to Steve is showing up for Lisa - they are not linked)-image associated with the contact is off center for the iconI've tried rebooting my Droid 2, re-syncing my contacts with My Verizon, even deleting the contact shortcut, re-adding the image to the contact and re-adding the contact shortcut to the home screen. Still to no avail.Anyone else having this issue? Suggestions? Solutions? Thanks in advance!

FolderOrganizer: Amazing Organizer for your Apps!

Tuesday 08th of June 2010 / androidforums.com
"So you've installed a few dozen apps, have lots of HTC Sense widgets, and have run out of space?"No problem! With FolderOrganizer (Formerly abcOrganizer) you can solve your Android clutter in no time. This app was designed with one purpose: To clean up and organize your Android Home Screen's clutter. Note: There are 3 flavors of this app: FolderOrganizer (paid), FolderOrganizer Lite (ad supported) and Apps Organizer (apps only free version) So, what can this app do? For starters you can organize your apps into categories (called Labels) , customize the actual app text and icon on your home screens, and even place applications into MULTIPLE categories. It can also allow you to create home So here's the basics:The basic idea is you take an item (App, Contact, Bookmark, or Shortcut) and tag it with a label, or multiple labels to indicate which category it belongs to. Then you go to your homescreen and place a SHORTCUT to the FolderOrganizer app, selecting the Label you wish to display. The result will be a folder-like icon which contains all the items you have tagged with the

GS2 touching itself!

Friday 13th of April 2012 / androidforums.com
Hi, first post, so please be gentle with me Righty then, I've got a Galaxy S2 and have had it for a number of months - completely trouble free, great bit of kit. My other half was so impressed by it, she just got herself one, but hers appears to be playing up.Basically, it seems to have a mind of it's own, programs opening on their own, setting being changed, contact shortcuts being created on the home screen etc. On closer inspection, there is a part of the screen that is 'touching' itself; roughly 2 icons down by 3 icons across (in a 4x4 setting). It will randomly open programs if there is a shortcut under the part of the screen, or it will long tap and bring up the widget/shortcut menu and will then select shortcut-contact and bring a shortcut of a contact on the screen. Basically extremely frustrating. It's only started doing this today after 2 days of being fine. So, what we've done so far was backup all data, unmount and format microsd card, factory reset it, perform firmware update via Kies to ICS, but it's still doing it now and again The phone has got a screen protector on it,
