I just bout a Straight Talk Centura and the problem is when I try to rotate the screen during a text or on the web, half the time it doesn't work. I've found if I literally shake the phone up and down really fast it will work but then sometimes it rotates upside down. Any help is really appreciated. Thanks

Security updates?

Monday 28th of October 2013 / androidforums.com
I'm new to android and trying to decide If I'm going to keep my Straight Talk Galaxy Centura. It's a great budget phone and has everything I need since I only use about 5 apps, play music, use the internet, text and talk. My question is will security updates be released or will this phone become more vunrable the older it gets? I plan on keeping it until it dies If I do decide to keep it (I'm still in the 15 day return policy). I'm thinking once the OS is outdated, I'll just stop using it for online purchases and banking. I hope this would be safe because I really don't want to have to by a new phone every few years, my last one (QWERTY non smart phone) kept kept going for 5 years and got dropped in some water...If not, I'd probably still be using it!Thanks

I hate the term "entry level"

Thursday 31st of October 2013 / androidforums.com
Low end or budget I don't mind but entry level suggests that I plan on moving up to a higher priced device and I actually find the term somewhat insulting.I'm not rich so I have a low end phone, the Samsung Galaxy Centura. It's a Straight Talk phone and I pay $45 a month for unlimited talk, text and 2.5GB data, which is more than enough for me since I have WIFI at home and I use my laptop for most multimedia. I use it for talking, texting, Facebook, playing mp3's and browsing the internet. I only have a handful of apps installed. This phone meets my needs perfectly and is a major upgrade from my $50 Samsung R355C feature phone. I could use the internet and play mp3's on it as well, but the experience wasn't nearly as enjoyable. I also like my phone to be as small as possible, just fits better in the pocket and most low end smartphones are on the smaller side.I still take care of my phone as if it were a $500 device. I have a case and screen protector. Just because it is inexpensive doesn't mean I don't want to keep it in top condition. A co-worker with an iPhone asked me the other da

Straight Talks gives small data bump to $45 plan

Thursday 15th of May 2014 / feedproxy.google.com
Straight Talk, the no contract pre-paid wireless provider, has announced a small bump in the data limit on their $45 per month plan. The unlimited talk and text plan now gets 3GB of data per month, a small increase from the 2.5GB limit that was in place. Since Straight Talk does not charge overage fees, users who go over the new 3GB limit will find their data speeds throttled down to 2G type performance. Straight Talk has also enhanced their $30 “All You Need” plan for non-smartphone users to provide unlimited text, 1500 minutes of voice and 100MB of data. For the rest of May Straight Talk will have demo units available at Walmart stores on Saturdays for potential buyers to try out and is offering a $25 Walmart gift card if a Samsung Galaxy Centura or Discover phone is purchased in May.Hit the break to read the full press release.Straight Talk Wireless, Available Exclusively at Walmart, Expands Their $45 Unlimited Talk, Text, and Data Plan to 3GB of High Speed Data.Straight Talk Offers Consumers Up To 10 Times More High Speed Data than Other $45 PlansMIAMI, May 13, 2014 /
