Optimus 2X Weather Widget Ported to all Android (What’s the Catch?)

Tuesday 01st of February 2011 / androidheadlines.com
Do you want to make your home screen on your Android smartphone sleek, stylish and have your friends wondering where you got that?  Well now you can, boys and girls.Sony_Ericsson_X10, courtesy of XDA-Developers.com, has ported this amazing-looking widget to work on all (yes I said all) Android phones.  How he did it?  In the system dump files of the LG Optimus 2X he found the proper .apk file to take out and do the porting. Now the catch I mentioned.  To use this widget, you must use a third-party launcher, such as  LauncherPro or ADW Launcher EX, to resize the widget.  When you first select the widget and place it on your screen, it will take up the whole screen thus bringing the third-party launcher into play for resizing. If you want to try this widget out, click on the link to XDA where you can download it.  You have your choice: a transparent version or you can opt for the background version.Link to XDA

Google News/Weather Widget Issue

Saturday 23rd of January 2010 / droidforums.net
I've been using the Google News and Weather widget .apk 2.1 for about a month now, and has been working flawlessly. About a week ago I replaced it with the transparent .apk file, and again flawless. For some reason starting today I've been having numerous FC issues with it. I am curious if anyone else is having the same problem with it today or if it's just me. I do have about 5 different custom topics set, and I have Prefetch articles and Images enabled. Thanks in advance.EDIT: I meant to add the word "Issue" at the end of my topic but can't edit that now, so I'm stuck with it saying "Google News/Weather Widget" like I know something about it or something lol.

Transparent News / Glass Skin for News

Friday 24th of September 2010 / droidforums.net
I'd like to get a news widget that has a glass/transparent look. Ideally, I'd love to have something that looks exactly like Francois Deslandes' weather widget.Weather forecast widget - Android app on AppBrain Any ideas? Full-page display preferrable, but not required. I've looked around, and I can't quite match what I'm looking for. edit: And, unrooted.

Transparent weather widget?

Tuesday 11th of June 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
Been searching around on google and found some info on making the weather widget transparent. My question is, does the phone have to be rooted in order to do this? Just wondered if someone has done this to their phone? I would like to make mine transparent. Anybody got any suggestions?

Transparent Weather Widget for SG4GE...Recommendations?

Wednesday 07th of August 2013 / forums.androidcentral.com
At the risk of asking what may be for most of you power Android users a trivial question, I was hoping to get feedback on which weather widget you recommend on your home screen. I put the stock News and Weather one in the widget gallery on the home screen - very simple, fine for me - but I don't like having a black rectangular box on top of my beautiful Cuben wallpaper. I couldn't find a transparent setting, so I went searching for a different weather widget. There seem to be so many of them and everyone has a favorite on other Android devices. I kind of like the transparent simple Android clock that is shipped on the home screen, but I'm not stuck on using it if I find something that looks better - and I see that a lot of these weather widgets include clocks. Just reaching out to get other peoples recommendations and hopefully let people show off their weather widget on the Google Edition phone. Thanks.

Transparent weather widget

I like the weather widget/clock that comes with the S4 but I wanted to know if it can be made transparent? I have a live wallpaper that I like but the weather widget covers it up. Thanks
